Ilocos Norte, Philippines-- In line with our   Ilocos Norte visit this coming weekend, Lakwatsera and I would like to share our Ilocos Norte Tour itinerary, which will be updated later on with links to our Ilocos Norte Heritage Tour posts.
This is already an all-too-familiar itinerary for Lakwatsera since she has been to Ilocos a couple of times and was part of  a slightly similar tour back in 2008. I, on the other hand, have never been to Ilocos. Everything in this itinerary sounds all  new and exciting to me.
The 4D/3N itinerary, according to most, is the normal tourist route to Ilocos. It includes almost all of the  must-see tourist hotspots in Ilocos Norte .

Day 1 Vigan-Laoag Tour:
Baluarte
Syquia Mansion
Pagburnayan
Burgos Museum
Calle Crisologo
Crisologo Museum
Bantay Bell Tower
St. Paul Cathedral
Juan Luna Shrine
Marcos Mauseleum
Paoay Church
Malacanan Ti Amianan

Day 2-PBB Tour (Pagudpud Bangui, Burgos)

Bangui Windmills
Burgos Light House
Kapurpurawan Rock Formation\
Dragon Fruit Farm

Day 3 North Bound of Pagudpud

Kabigan Falls
Paraiso ni Anton
Agua Grande
Patapat via Duct
Blue Lagoon
Bantay ABot
Dos Hermanos Island

Day 4 City Tour:

St. William Cathedral
Sand Dunes
Museo Iloco
Sta. Monica Church
Museo Diocesano de Laoag
Marcos Birthplace
Aurora Park
Please let us know if there are places in Ilocos Norte which isn't part of our itinerary but should be.
We welcome and appreciate all types of suggestions  or recommendations.

  1. I've been to all of your itinerary except the 2nd and 3rd day iti. I went solo before and my friends advised me not to go alone to that area especially if I will spend a night or two. They say I should only go there during the day. Day tour is advisable daw for solo female traveler. But I think Gail went there alone. I have to ask her.

  7. Hindi masyadong busy! Want to see those wind mills. How much kaya lahat magagastos to tour Ilocos?

  8. How about Adams, Ilocos Norte? It's just near the Patapat viaduct. We went there by riding a dump truck but there are also motorcycles which you can hire. Adams prides itself with 18 waterfalls. It's ideal to spend a night at the area. It's one of the intact forests in Ilocos Norte

  13. Your travel schedule is comprehensive. I think it covers all the historical, interesting and tourist spots in Ilocos Norte. What I'm actually after is your pictures of those places you've visited. I know you've all those pix, but you've not posted them here yet.

  16. Wow! detailed Ilocos trip. Though for me, parang bitin yung 4D/3N for travel photographers lalo na kung gusto nila mag-immerse sa culture ng mga Ilocanos. ^_^

  17. wish i can also go on a backpacking trip to Ilocos...but would never do it during summer. it's already hot here as it is, so i'm sure even hotter in ilocos now. i might not enjoy it considering i have to fight off heat exhaustion at the same time.

but would love to visit during colder months....

  25. hi there, me and wife went backpacking to ilocos norte and sur from mar 31- apr 1, and we visited most sites in ilocos norte and vigan except baluarte and pagburnayan. we spend 11000 (transpo, accomodation, food and souvenirs), i'm planning to go back but im not sure if i will go backpacking or take the group tour with others. san ba ako makakatipid, backpacking o group tour?

    1. I find your 11000 budget a little too expensive for two days and two persons. I believe medyo super tight din yung naging sched nyo. I suggest you try the group tour, 4 days would be a relaxing tour. Several groups offer this kind of tour. Just make sure you chose the one na mas makakatipid kayo.

  31. When I was a little girl we used to travel around Luzon a lot every weekend and one of our favorite pit stops was Ilocos. How I wish I could go back and visit the place but I live in Mindanao now and it's just to far to travel to now. :(

    1. Ours was a very tight schedule from day 1 to day 4. There were 11 of us and the majority wanted to take the plane from Manila to Laoag, but Lakwatsera voted against it and insisted the we take the bus from Manila to Vigan, Ilocos Sur to save time by having a straight route from Ilocos Sur to Ilocos Norte during the 4-day tour. We only traveled by air going home from Laoag to Manila.
Now, If you've decided to go by air to Ilocos Norte, from Laoag, you can take an hour and a half bus ride to Vigan, Ilocos Sur. The city can be reached from Laoag City via Partas Bus, Fariñas Transportation, Maria De Leon Bus Lines, RCJ Bus Lines, F. Franco Trans, and Florida Bus.
